Rab Bruce Lockhart

Rab Brougham Bruce Lockhart (December 1, 1916 - May 1, 1990, Burneside, Cumberland[1]) was a Scottish rugby union player, who gained three caps for Scotland,[1][2] and who played for Cambridge University R.U.F.C. and London Scottish FC.[3]

He was capped three times for Scotland between 1937-1939. He also played for London Scottish RFC.[2]

He also played for the Scotland national cricket team.[2][2]

Personal life and Family

Rab came from the wealthy and well known Bruce Lockhart family. His father was John Bruce-Lockhart (also a dual rugby-cricket international for Scotland), and he was the brother of Logie Bruce Lockhart also a Scottish rugby internationalist.[4]

His uncle was Sir Robert Hamilton Bruce Lockhart, a noted footballer, spy and journalist. Sir Robert's son, Robin Bruce Lockhart was the author of Reilly, Ace of Spies. He was also related to Sandy Bruce-Lockhart, Baron Bruce-Lockhart.

He attended Sedbergh School and in later life was headmaster of Loretto School from 1960 to 1976.
